Quality Early Childhood Programs for All - HYBRID

Overview
This course is designed as an introduction to special services and inclusion resources available to support early childhood professionals so that every child is included in early childhood programs. Ideas for building family partnerships and information about service providers will be highlighted. A review of related laws is also included in the course. All child care educators working in 3-STAR and 4-STAR licensed child care centers and family child care homes are required to complete this course, or its equivalent, within the first six months of employment. THIS IS A HYBRID COURSE.  Online classes will be held via ZOOM web conferencing, a computer with microphone and webcam is required.
Objective
Objectives:
By the end of this training, you will have:
1. Heard the definition of Early Childhood Inclusion and connected high-quality inclusive practice to 3 laws that promote Access, Participation and Support.
2. Heard the difference between growth and development, and explored resources that support appropriate practices and expectations for both these concepts.
3. Explored the meaning behind behavior with children & families and within ourselves; and listened to the definition of TRAUMA and the effects of trauma on behavior.
4. Heard the definitions of adaptations and modifications and planned for a modification utilizing information from a variety of resources.
5. Reviewed and analyzed samples of referral processes and policies from various programs and identified resources for families.
6. Seen dialogue in action around having a difficult conversation with families and developed a list of phrases that can be referenced in the future.
